Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to plan your evening at Bristol Magic Theatre. If your question isn’t here, get in touch and we’ll answer it.

What is Bristol Magic Theatre?

Bristol Magic Theatre is an intimate 18-seat close-up magic and mind-reading theatre in Clifton, Bristol. Expect story-driven sleight of hand, mind reading and absurd comedy, performed inches from your seat across two halves.

Where is the theatre?

We are at 39 Alma Vale Road, Clifton, Bristol, BS8 2HL. The nearest station is Clifton Down, a short walk away, and street parking is available on nearby roads.

When are the shows?

We perform one weekend a month, on a Friday and a Saturday. Doors open at 7:00pm and the show starts at 7:30pm.

How much are tickets and how do I book?

Tickets are £25 each, and £30 for the Halloween special. They are booked online through Headfirst Bristol. We usually sell out in advance, so we recommend booking ahead.

How many seats are there?

Just 18 seats per show. Everyone sits in a half-circle around a single table, so there is no bad seat.

How long is the show?

The show runs for about 90 minutes in two 45-minute halves, with a 10-minute interval in between to grab a drink and chat.

Can I bring my own drinks?

Yes. It is a BYOB event, so bring whatever you like to drink. There is an interval halfway through to top up.

Is it suitable for first dates, groups or people new to magic?

Yes. Most of our audience is couples on a date night and small groups of friends, and plenty of them have never been to a magic show before. There is audience interaction, but it is relaxed and nobody gets dragged up or made to look silly.

What age is the show suitable for?

The show is suitable for ages 10 and up, with no swearing or inappropriate content. It is aimed at adults, and children are welcome if they are comfortable sitting through a full-length theatre performance. We do not host stag or hen parties.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes. The theatre is fully accessible to wheelchair users. If you have specific access needs, let us know in advance and we will sort it out.

Can I hire you privately?

Yes, for corporate events and team-building. We bring the show to your office or venue, and the team-building session adds an hour of teaching your group a few tricks properly. We do not do stag or hen parties. Get in touch through our private hire page and tell us about the event.

What is your ticket and seating policy?

Seating is unassigned, so arrive early if you want to pick your spot. Tickets are non-refundable but transferable, so just let us know the new guest’s name in advance. Bring your confirmation on your phone and we will have you on the guest list at the door.
